Very often, exercise does wonders for the way we feel and our body’s internal functions. But, come one, who wants to walk around with a body that’s in great shape and skin that looks like salt and pepper?
Before looking for a cure or products to help reduce acne from exercise, let’s look at a few basic things first.
What type of workout clothes do you wear? Can they be irritating to the skin? (this is obviously a body acne question, as anyone wearing a mask while working out should be worried about more than acne.
)
Very often, exercise related acne is not from just sweating too much and working out. Could be many things, such as a change in hormones, things you put on your skin (ladies, watch those lotions!!!), make up, and so on.
A lot of cosmetic usage can really clog pores as you know, but be sure to use sunscreen anyhow when you go out in the sun. I know for many this can make the skin oily and prone to a breakout or two, but the long term benefits are worth it. Whether it’s sunscreen or another topical, whenever you get done working out, be sure to wash your face and body as soon as possible. It may be a good idea to start with warm to hot water (we know you may be overheated) as an immediate cold shower may close pores before you can clean them out.
Be sure to choose clothing and natural fabrics that allow the skin to breathe. This will reduce body acne as sweat can evaporate and leave the skin naturally instead of being saturated during your entire workout in one area.
The next step is crucial…. be SURE to exfoliate at least once a day whenever you workout. It is important to remove any surface contaminants that have gotten stuck in your pores trapped by sweat. Of course remosturizing is important afterward.
Try to use natural skin products, especially on your face to avoid using hard chemicals that could cause further breakouts. Body acne isn’t as affected by this as much, but the face can be very sensitive to chemical compounds whether you realize on your own body or not.
We recommend Acnezine, which works better than the over the counter products you get at CVS or Walgreens. We also like it because it’s all natural, and is safe for whole body use, so it gets that body acne too! Teens and adults compatible.
