They are chemical cousins, so they are both antifungals. But tioconazole is more effective and is a one-day therapy. It is usually more expensive than miconazole. Miconazole is a seven-day therapy, but many women fail to use it for 7 days and in many cases the infection returns.
If you can afford tioconazole, it’s obviously a better choice.
Hope this helps.

I use to suffer with yeast infections for years when I was younger, but have since got the problem under control. I did use Monistat at the time..that seemed to work best for me. Presently when I feel the like I might get a yeast infection I eat alot of plain non-fat white yogurt which seems to keep the yeast away. I also have started taking acidolphilus tablets which I buy from swansonsvitamins.com or any health food store should carry them. I take 6 a day: 2 in am, 2 at noon, 2 at pm…I can definitely tell a hugh difference! I was advised by a friend to try eliminating all white flour products and milk from diet along with chocolate and soda pop to see if that would prevent me from getting yeast infections. It worked I feel much better physically and vaginally. Hope this helps..have a great day!!
